Recover a failed payment

   Ask for a bank ATM or authorized exchange counter

   At airport Information or hotel reception show: 请问哪里有可以用境外银行卡取人民币的银行ATM？ — Where is a bank ATM for withdrawing RMB with an overseas card? Match the network logo on your physical card to the machine. For cash exchange, use an authorized desk and bring your passport.

   Read the amount and all displayed costs

   Choose English if offered, protect your PIN and select cash withdrawal in RMB / CNY. Review any ATM fee and currency-conversion offer before confirming; your issuer can charge separately. At an exchange desk ask how many RMB you receive after fees. Cancel if the total is unclear.

   Collect everything before leaving

   Take the card, money and receipt as the machine instructs; count discreetly and end the session. Ask the bank or exchange desk for smaller notes for ordinary purchases. Keep cash separately from your only phone/card.

   No cash, a retained card or an unexpected debit?

   Record the bank, ATM identifier, time and amount without photographing your PIN. Use the bank's official help number shown on the machine or staffed branch; also contact your issuer if money is debited or the card is retained. Do not repeatedly withdraw or accept an unknown person's phone number as bank support.
