Try this part of your Qingdao journey
Before departure: turn a search result into a usable ticket
Search the date and exact station
Use the official Railway 12306 English site/app or your chosen booking platform. Select the date and compare the complete Qingdao departure-station name, arrival station and train number. A city-wide search can return more than one Qingdao station.
Add the traveler as a passport holder
Enter the document type, passport number and name as instructed by the booking form, matching the original passport. Complete any identity verification requested. If the online check fails, take the original passport to a staffed railway ticket window and ask for verification assistance.
Pay and find the confirmed order
Confirm the train, date, station, passenger, class and price before paying. Look for a completed ticket with train, carriage and seat. Waitlist, processing or a payment attempt is not a confirmed seat. Keep the confirmation offline and carry the original booking passport.
Plan a first-time arrival buffer
Aim to reach the correct station building about 60–90 minutes before departure as a planning buffer, longer on busy holidays or if verification is unresolved. This is advice, not a guaranteed processing time. The train's departure time is later than its boarding cutoff; follow your train's live gate notice.
If this does not workNo usable account or phone number? At 售票处 / Ticket Office show passport, destination, date, approximate departure time and passenger count. Ask staff to show the proposed train and fare before paying. A sold-out train is not solved by visiting another window.
