Choose the correct two wharves
For daytime visitors start with Dongdu/Xiagu Cruise Terminal, not the resident terminal beside Zhongshan Road. Sanqiutian and Neicuo'ao are different island arrivals; choose with your hotel's walking plan.
Use official ferry booking and passport details
Open the official 屿见厦门 ferry service. The operator's foreign-visitor FAQ supports real-name Alipay scan login; add each passenger, choose Other document / Passport and enter the actual passport details. Do not invent a Chinese ID to pass a form.
Confirm the dated outward sailing
Check date, departure wharf, island wharf, all guests and a successful paid order. Save confirmation and carry each original passport. The outward sailing is time-specific even though the ticket includes a later return.
Use the staffed passport route if needed
At the booked terminal, show passport and order at the ticket desk if the gate cannot read the document. The operator may issue a boarding credential. Aim about an hour early when first-time passport assistance is needed; that is a planning buffer, not a universal operator cutoff.
Check the return destination before joining a queue
The operator FAQ includes one return within 20 days. Read the current departure pier and mainland destination: night return can land near Zhongshan Road instead of Dongdu. For late outward travel, the visitor route uses Xiamen Ferry Terminal Hall 2 to Sanqiutian under seasonal hours; use the wharf printed on your actual ticket.
If this does not workIf Alipay/passport registration fails, use the official staffed terminal counter with original passports, subject to available sailings. Weather can stop the ferry. Contact an island hotel before changing the sailing or mainland wharf.
